COASTAL AND OFFSHORE ENGINEERING

PT Rekamudra Utama implements metocean on offshore and coastal engineering by integrating all aspects of measurements, numeric modeling and metocean analysis plus efficiency and reliabilities on designing facility construction structure.
PT Rekamudra Utama has several designs:

  1. Designing coastal facility

Metocean parameters in designing coastal facility structure consists of :

    1. Boat canal design
      • Ambient winds, waves, currents and water levels
      • swell climate
      • sediment dynamics
      • under keel clearance
    2. Jetty and wharf design

      • ambient winds, waves, currents and water levels
      • swell climate
      • exposure to infra-gravity waves
      • extreme water levels (to set deck elevations)
      • extreme winds, waves and currents (pile loadings)
    3. Breakwater and costal protection
      • ambient waves and swell
      • extreme waves and water levels
      • currents & sediment dynamics
      • harbor flushing
    4. Effluent dispersion
      • ambient waves & currents
      • water temperatures
    5. Onshore plant and atmospheric mission
      • meteorological conditions
      • extreme wind
      • rainfall intensities

  2. Offshore structure design
    1. Fixed Offshore Platform

On shallow sea, the platform plant into the sea bottom. Legs made of steel or concrete longwise from the platform until the sea bottom. For concrete structure, the heavy weight of the legs will make the platform lean on the sea bottom.
The jacket type of Fixed Offshore Platform will be economical for sea with 1000 – 1600 ft depths. Example: Jacket template, Concrete Gravity Platform

    2. Floating Offshore Platform

Fixed Offshore Platform is a flowing platform which follows the waves flow. Main characters of Floating Offshore Platform (FOP) are mobility and ability to anticipate the moves from waves and sea currents. Example: Semi-submersible platform, Jack-up platform

    3. Compliant Offshore Platform

The aim of this Compliant Offshore Platform is to meet special functions requirements such as economic and technical factors. The platform is lighter than the other structure types because of its flexibility. Several Compliant Offshore Platform are using forces to keep the weight working in that structure. Station keeping is one of the consideration need for Compliant Offshore Platform design. We will involve the mooring system that able to keep the structure in locations with precise limit. Example: Articulated Tower, Guyed Tower, Tension Leg Platform
To espouse the structure strengthness criteria we need metocean data of:

      • Extreme winds, waves, currents and water levels
      • Wind and current vertical profile
      • Wind gust factor assessments
      • Wave spectrum characterization
      • Individual wave height distribution
      • Near-seabed currents

  3. submersible platform, FPSO, TLP

As a production placed in deep water, floating production facility is a right choice. Which consists of:

    • Semi-submersible platforms
    • Tension-leg platforms (TLPs)
    • Ship-shaped floating production storage and offloading facilities (FPSOs)

This facility need the exact metocean design with attached input structure, but it is way more sensitive than wind force vector relative, waves, and currents. Thus effecting on research design and mooring layout.

  4. pipeline, manifold, riser, cable

The principal of pipeline design consists of bottom stability, spanning and fatigue, sea bottom temperature and also instalation condition. We will also need metocean information of deep water, extremely sea bottom currents prediction and water temperature. In shallow water (less than 200 m), we should also consider the impact from sea bottom waves. The important thing from this process is currents vertical velocity profile, which transform easily depending on its natural characters.
